Immaculate Conception Church, Vicuña Chile

The current Immaculate Conception Church of Vicuña was built between 1904 and 1910, whose design and construction was entrusted to the architects Emparan and Young.

The construction is based mainly on wood, it is characterized by its red and white colors, and by the religious paintings that it has inside.

Some of its relics are the Virgen del Carmen who accompanied the chilean troops to the Pacific War (1879-1884), and the baptismal font of Gabriela Mistral, the first and only Chilean woman to win the Nobel Prize for Literature in 1945, baptized in 1889 under the name of Lucila Godoy Alcayaga. Today this temple is one of the landmarks of the city of Vicuña, both for Gabriela Mistral and for the relics it keeps, which includes a valuable collection of paintings.

The size of the work is 2850x1900 px in jpg format.
